What to Expect

The class will also focus on surface development, offering participants the opportunity to experiment with a series of glazes and surface treatments.
Group Pit Firing
A highlight of this class will be the unique opportunity to partake in a group pit firing led by the renowned Puertorican artist Patricia Esperanza. This ancient and primal firing method offers a fascinating insight into the organic and unpredictable nature of the firing process. Through the pit firing experience, students will gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse and stunning outcomes that this primitive technique can yield.
What You'll Take Home
By the end of the class, each student will have a fired full figure to take home. Additionally, students will have a series of fired surface tests, providing them with a diverse range of techniques and finishes to incorporate into their future ceramic practice.
What is a Masterclass?
A master class is designed for students who already have a strong foundation in the subject and are looking to deepen their skills under the guidance of experts. Participants are expected to have prior experience and a certain level of proficiency in the field. The focus is on advanced techniques, nuanced concepts, and individualized feedback tailored to the participant's creative goals and abilities.
On the other hand, a workshop is open to individuals of all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners. It provides a supportive environment for learning, experimentation, and skill development. Workshops often cover fundamental principles and techniques, allowing participants to learn and grow together, regardless of their starting point. The emphasis is on exploration, collaboration, and fostering a welcoming space for everyone to engage with the subject matter.
Both master classes and workshops offer valuable learning opportunities, each tailored to meet the specific needs of participants at different stages of their learning journey
Currently, the Center offers workshops only in live-virtual formats and Masterclasses in both live-virtual and in-person. formats.
