WINTER 4-WEEK LIVE ONLINE INTENSIVE: JANUARY 2026

Join us for a four-week online intensive dedicated entirely to the surface, the skin of the sculpture. Led by Cristina Córdova, this program brings together a diverse group of artists, each offering their own distinct approach to ceramic finishes.

John Britt will walk us through the chemistry and craft of sculptural glazes for low and mid-range firings. Janina Myronova will share her process of drawing directly on clay, creating surfaces that are animated, graphic, and deeply personal. Beth Cavener will introduce her method of non-fired finishes—as exquisite and evocative as her sculpting. Nicola Moore will demonstrate how layered glazes can produce unexpected, even wild results when patience and experimentation align. Alison Brannen will introduce saggar firing techniques adapted for electric kilns, offering the unpredictability of pit firing in a more accessible format. Cristina will offer her own contributions—favorite glaze and underglaze recipes, curious combinations, and the thinking behind her surfaces. This course is an invitation to reconsider surface as a field of inquiry—one that begins with material, and ends with meaning.

All sessions are live and interactive, giving you the chance to engage directly with the artists and ask your questions in real time.
