Cerámica Para Todos
“Investigación de Barros Locales” by Yamileth Flores Reyes - February 2026
This workshop introduced participants to a comprehensive research process focused on Puerto Rico’s local clays, from their identification, collection, and processing to their formulation and use in a range of ceramic applications. Through hands-on experimentation, participants explored the properties of local clay, the addition of minerals to enhance performance, and its use both as a clay body and as a material for surface finishes such as slips, textures, and glazes. The workshop organized in collaboration with Pitirre Proyectos aimed to promote a more conscious, informed, and sustainable use of local resources, expanding technical knowledge of the island’s clays and their potential within contemporary ceramic practice.
